No list of authors to follow on social media would be complete without J.K. Using her 240-word count to potent effect, J.K. is never afraid to share her opinions and put down the doubters, and of course share Harry Potter titbits.
2. John Green @johngreenwritesbooks
Best-selling author, John Green, who has The Fault In Our Stars and Paper Towns on his backlist, is an author you need to follow on Instagram.
Offering an insight into life ‘behind the scenes’ as a writer, 2.2m followers can’t be wrong.

Looking for writing advice? K.M Weiland’s Instagram feed is the place to go. Her feed links to features where she shares tips for writing your first scene, how to improve your book with humour and ways to bust writer’s block – a great resource for aspiring writers.
4. Paulo Coelho @paulocoelho
Prolific writer, Paulo Coelho, whose works include the best-selling novel, The Alchemist, has amassed a massive 15.6 million following on Twitter, and it is easy to see why.
