Johnny Herbert

Brief:

To secure a suitable ghostwriter and negotiate a subsequent book deal on the most advantageous financial and promotional terms for our managed client, 1995 British Grand Prix winner, Johnny Herbert.

Delivery:

We identified ghostwriter James Hogg as the best fit for the project and, from the very first meeting negotiated the terms of engagement between him and Johnny. From there we produced a lengthy proposal sent out to publishers and monitored the response. After talks with several interested parties, we negotiated a comprehensive book and ebook deal with Transworld Publishing, part of the Penguin Random House. We then coordinated a series of reader events in collaboration with selected book stores in venues seating up to 300 people around the UK.

Outcome:

What Doesn’t Kill You... was released in hardback form in November 2016. It was soon longlisted for the Autobiography of the Year Award at the Cross Sports Book Awards and, as of 16th March 2017 had sold over 18,000 copies. Sales are naturally expected to increase once again when the paperback version is launched in June 2017.
